GAIA: European Funding awarded for training in climate and sustainability

European Funding has been awarded to a consortium of partners to support the next generation of interdisciplinary researchers in climate and sustainability.

GAIA: Preparing the next generation for planetary resilience

ACE is partnering with a European Consortium of Universities, Businesses and Third sector organisations to advance skills needed to help society adapt to our changing environment.

Gaia is a comprehensive two-year training program for fellow researchers, providing the necessary competencies to excel in their future careers, bridging the gap between academia and real-world climate science needs.

Gaia brings together researchers from diverse fields to collaborate on innovative solutions for a healthier planet and a sustainable climate. This unique program fosters interdisciplinary research, combining knowledge and expertise to tackle the world's most pressing environmental challenges.

Sebastian Mernil,  Professor, and Head of Southern Denmark University Climate Cluster will lead from Denmark. He stated:

“By bringing together talented young researchers from around the world, we are creating a vibrant community dedicated to advancing the scientific knowledge needed to drive the green transition“.

This groundbreaking EU program, part of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, will place fellows at the forefront of climate and sustainability research. It will support 15 postdoctoral fellows in two cohorts, with the first starting in mid-2025.
