ACE recently hosted a UKRI Grant writing masterclass to support it's members UKRI Grant Writing Masterclass UKRI Grant writing workshop In May, ACE delivered a bespoke training for our members aimed at increasing the success of UKRI grant applications, run by Rebecca Steliaros of Research in Focus. Over 70 researchers from across 7 different schools in the University and a range of ACE’s external partners spent the day together, both exchanging ideas and focusing on grant writing technique. The day focused on a range of topics such as how analyse assessment criteria, key aspects of a successful proposal, how to take on the reviewer's perspective, and more. The day was interspersed with the opportunity for our members to gain feedback on key parts of their proposals from peers and reflect on the feedback to hone their proposals for success. It was also an opportunity for our research development team to hear about people’s plans and highlight where there was complementary expertise or interests in the room with several potential new collaborative relationships being formed in the downtime over lunch and coffee. The team will be running a series of grant writing retreats throughout the year where members can come along and devote focused time to grant writing and get feedback and support with their proposals.
